Congratulations to our Seniors on winning the 2023 West of Edinburgh Senior Bowling Association Premiership League

With Opening Day fast approaching lots of work has been going on behind the scenes to get the club spick and span for what we are hoping is a lovely opening day weather wise. We hope to see as many members as possible on the green.

E.B.A. ran the leagues as usual this year with it reverting to a single division 5, although you only played each team once making for a shorter season. Ardmillan finished second and gained promotion to division 4. Well Done All who played. W.E.B.A. Ardmillan won Division One with a dramatic final two games of the season, seen us beat Carrick Knowe and Gorgie Mills to win the league. Well Done All who played. W.E.S.B.A. – Ardmillan A finished 3rd in Division 1, Ardmillan B were relegated from Division 2. Congratulations to Mike Wilczynski, Derek McLean, Frank Brown and Ian Neill who won the Knockout Fours. Congratulations to Frank Brown on winning the Championship for the first time, we managed to run almost all our internal competitions, but unfortunately, we did not manage to fulfil any of our friendlies this year due to a combination of date clashes and lack of numbers. We hope these will be better supported this year. Thanks to President Alex Lockhart & Vice President Malcolm Clark for stepping forward at the AGM and for the work they did. Also, to Alex Lockhart for running the Bonus Ball & Mike Menelaws for the Tote Double. Thanks to all who worked on the green at the beginning of the season and to Green Keeper Sandy.

Opening day returned as normal this year, with the President Alec welcoming the memebrs back to the club and intruducing the new members to the club, before throwing the jack and his wife Ellen throwing the first bowl. Then followed by our traditional team game of President versus Vice President, it is really just a fun day to get out on the green with all our friends and have a laugh and catchup whilst still trying win the exclusive prizes that the President and Vice President donate. The day was followed by a few beverages and some lovely food. On the whole a great welcome back to the club and it even stayed dry and warm. Wishing all our members the best for the coming season.
